TV and Radio
The May distribution includes the use of music on all TV and Radio channels where distributions are made monthly. These primarily concern performances in February 2022, but in several areas, you will find that performances from March 2022 have also already been reported, processed and are ready for distribution.
In addition to this, the May distribution also includes an annual distribution for the radio channel 100 FM Klassisk, covering all of 2021.
The music streaming service Nuuday Musik
The May distribution includes revenues generated in Q1 2022 within the online area Nuuday Music, which covers the use of music on Nuuday’s music streaming services YouSee Music and Telmore Music. The area was previously managed by Koda’s external online service provider NMP (Network of Music Partners), but as of 2022, the service’s revenues will be processed internally by Koda.
Background and Concert
The May distribution includes revenues generated within most areas of the category Background - with reporting for music use in 2021. This includes those areas where Koda collects reporting from professional providers of music services for commercial use, which is subsequently used as the basis for distributing revenues from a specific Background section.
In addition to this, the May distribution also covers Background areas where no reporting is received. In those cases, Koda bases its distributions on analogous information from other representative areas. As regards Daytime Radio and TV, the May distribution covers Q3 and Q4 of 2021, while it covers all of 2021 for the areas Music for fitness and Recorded Music.
As regards concerts, the May distribution covers all concerts where the music reporting has been processed and completed and where Koda has received all necessary information from the concert promoter (for example about ticket revenues per concert). The May distribution mainly concerns concerts held in 2022.
Abroad
Koda regularly distributes the revenues received from other collective rights management societies for the use of Koda members’ music abroad. Koda’s rate of distributions depends on the relevant societies’ distribution frequency and speed within their various distribution areas.
Prior to the May distribution, Koda has received new quarterly settlements from sister societies in Sweden (STIM), Finland (TEOSTO) and Norway (TONO). The May distribution covers performances within various distribution areas, primarily in 2021.
Furthermore, Koda has received an annual settlement from the Japanese collective rights management society JASRAC, meaning that the May distribution also covers the use of Koda members’ music in Japan. The distribution mainly covers performances in 2021 in various areas.
