Koda and CEO Gorm Arildsen have been elected to join the board of CISAC, the world’s largest network of collective management organisations, thereby strengthening Koda’s and Denmark’s role in the global music industry.
Koda has just been elected to the board of CISAC, the international organisation of authors’ societies that brings together copyright management organisations from across the world. The election reinforces Koda’s and Denmark’s position within the music industry’s international network.
‘It is a great honour for Koda to be elected to sit on CISAC’s board. At a time when the value of creative work is under increasing pressure, rights management organisations play a crucial role in securing a financially fair, transparent and sustainable future for creators around the world. I look forward to contributing to this important mission of promoting artists’ rights and supporting a sustainable future for creative content globally,’ says Gorm Arildsen.
CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) represents over five million creative artists across the fields of music, audio-visual media, literature, drama and visual arts. The organisation has 227 member societies in 116 countries and works to protect and promote the rights of creators globally.
The board of CISAC comprises up to twenty members, elected for three-year terms. It constitutes the organisation’s second-highest decision-making body and is responsible for strategic decisions, financial management, and the development of international standards for collective rights management.
From his position on CISAC’s board, Gorm Arildsen will work to promote several key focus areas aligned with Koda’s overall strategy to assume greater responsibility for the development of the global music industry. This includes the efforts to introduce clear principles on the use of AI and new technologies, with particular emphasis on creators’ rights; improved efficiency in global royalty distributions; enhanced metadata collaboration; greater transparency in financial processes; and the integration of sustainability and mental health into rights management.
All of these areas reflect Koda’s strategic ambition to influence the global agenda for rights management while focusing on creators’ rights, a stronger music scene, and the future sustainability of the industry.
