If your music is performed publicly, either by you or others, or if you have a music publishing company, a Koda membership ensures you receive payment for it.
Koda manages your rights and ensures you get paid when your music is used publicly. We achieve this by creating music licenses with all businesses that use and offer music, including TV, radio, streaming services, cafes, shops, gyms, and festivals.
A membership costs a one-time fee of DKK 650 plus VAT in total DKK 812.50, or DKK 3,500 plus VAT in total DKK 4,375 kr. if you join as a music publisher.
If you are already a member of another Performance Right Society, you must contact them and request to have your membership transferred.
Joining Koda is beneficial if your music is published or performed live, whether by you or others. It's also relevant if you write music for others or if your lyrics are set to music. If you plan to start a music publishing company, becoming a Koda member is also a wise choice.

Management vs. The Copyright Act
Koda's role is to manage your rights. Under The Copyright Act, your musical works are protected from the moment you create them. Registering your works with Koda does not provide additional copyright. We ensure that royalties are collected from users of your music and that you are paid when your music is used publicly.
How much does being a member cost?
Joining Koda costs DKK 650 plus VAT in total DKK 812.50 for music creators and DKK 3,500 plus VAT in total DKK 4,375 for music publishers. Both fees are one-time payments due upon joining. There is no annual membership fee. We deduct administration costs and a cultural fund contribution from your payments. This helps finance Koda Kultur's various grants, which you can apply for as a member.
Learn more about Koda KulturWhen you join Koda, you sign a membership declaration that includes a legally binding agreement on the management of your rights. This agreement, known as a management contract, transfers the management of significant parts of the copyright for your music or text to Koda. Additionally, joining Koda automatically makes you a member of NCB

Therefore, you cannot make special agreements with other parties regarding the use of individual works of yours. Nor can you enter into special agreements with others allowing them to use your music without paying Koda for public performance and NCB for recording.
