Koda's work database is migrating to a new platform

28th of November 2024

Koda is upgrading to a new and enhanced platform for music work registration. This transition will occur from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Monday, January 20, 2025. During this time, you can continue to register new works and update existing ones in My Koda.

However, you will not be able to view your new works or recent changes to existing works on your work list. The reported information will be prepared for internal processing at Koda when the new platform launches at the end of January. Please note that Thursday, December 12th is the deadline for registering works to be visible on My Koda during the transition period.

The new platform, named ICE Cube, is designed to be future-proof. It offers several enhancements and increased automation, collectively improving efficiency and enabling faster, more accurate data processing.

You are always welcome to contact Koda's member service, if you have further questions or need assistance with work registration.

FAQ about the transition to ICE Cube

Will the transition to the new work database affect me?

Yes. From December 12, 2024, to January 20, 2025, when we switch the work database, four things will be different on My Koda.

  1. The works you register after December 12 will not be processed until after January 20, 2025. You will receive a receipt by email, but the work will not be visible on your list of works. After January 20, 2025, we will start processing all registered works from that period, so it may take some time before you can see them on your list of works.
  2. If you make corrections to existing works after December 2nd, they will likewise only be processed after January 20th.
  3. If you need to use a work that you have registered after December 12th in your concert reporting, you may not see it on your work list because it has not been processed yet. However, you can instead create it as a new work when you report the concert, or search for the work title under "my works".
  4. The concerts you report after December 12th with newly registered works will not be processed until after January 20th, 2025. You will receive a receipt, and the concert will be visible on your concert list. The status will be 'sent to Koda' until we begin processing.

What will happen when the work database changes?

Initially (after January 20th), there will be a longer processing time for newly registered works, and corrections to existing works.

Will the switch to a new workshop database affect my January payment?

No, the payment will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

About ICE

ICE stands for International Copyright Enterprise and is a work database used by Koda along with five other Collection Socieeties: Stim (Sweden), PRS (England), TONO (Norway), Teosto (Finland), and Sabam (Belgium). By sharing the same database, these companies have direct access to each other's work data, facilitating easier matching and distribution of royalties for works active across national borders.

Since 2015, ICE has been using its current platform, but starting January 2025, it will transition to a new, cloud-based, future-proof platform. This upgrade will benefit all ICE customers, including Koda.
