Distribution Spotlight

TV distribution

Royalty payments for TV distribution in 2026, which cover music broadcast on flow TV channels via TV packages, are unfortunately delayed. Upcoming distributions will still include royalty payments from other areas of TV usage, meaning that only the portion of payments originating from TV distribution is affected by the delay.

Delay due to dispute with Nuuday/YouSee

Koda’s royalty payments for TV distribution is based on a distribution agreement with Copydan and UBOD, founded on a collective agreement with the TV distributors. This agreement expired on 31 December 2025, and a dispute with Nuuday/YouSee has resulted in the postponement of negotiations.

Uncertain timeline

Unfortunately, we do not know when a new distribution agreement will be in place. We sincerely apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this may cause.

Introduction of day and night factors for Faroese Radio

For a number of years, Koda’s distribution for Faroese Radio has been calculated using a single general per‑minute rate, regardless of the time of day at which the music was broadcast. This differs from the distribution structure for Faroese TV and other radio channels, where music broadcast during daytime hours is paid at a higher rate than music played at night.

To fully align Faroese Radio with Koda’s general principles for distribution, for example those applied to DR’s radio channels, broadcasts on Faroese Radio during daytime hours will henceforth be distributed at double the per‑minute rate compared to music broadcast at night (00:00–06:00).

How much will I get paid?

The royalty payment we send to you for the use of your music is based on several factors, depending on where the music is used. For example, on TV and radio, we talk about minute values, whereas streaming is based on the number of streams. Concerts are paid out based on the number of attendees and, among other things, ticket prices if any.
