We will send you an email on 15 June if you are eligible for a royalty payment.
What is included in this distribution?
The French collective management organisation SACEM has been withholding royalty payments to Koda since 1 January 2025. The French authorities have indicated that these payments must be taxed locally, and efforts are currently underway to resolve this issue. We had hoped to find a quicker solution, but the payments have been put on hold while we work towards resolving the matter as soon as possible. We are in constructive dialogue with SACEM to ensure that you, as a member, avoid any risk of double taxation.
The June distribution includes the final distribution for international streaming services processed by our back office NMP (Network of Music Partners).
The collaboration with NMP ended following the closure of Polaris Hub at the turn of the year. Going forward, Koda’s processing of international streaming services will take place in collaboration with the Spanish music technology company BMAT.
This final online distribution via NMP includes the remaining primary usage periods for which no royalty payments have previously been made. This includes an extended period from the streaming service Tidal, which, due to ongoing negotiations, has been pending processing and distribution.
In addition, the distribution includes final settlements of various types of outstanding amounts from NMP’s systems. This includes supplementary and residual royalty payments, as well as other collected amounts that, due to missing matches or insufficient documentation, could not previously be distributed.
The distribution also includes the annual royalty payment for Interactive TV Services. This is a substantial distribution covering music usage in TV broadcasts across a wide range of channels in 2025.
The distributed amounts stem from Koda’s licensing of TV distributors’ digital availability of TV content, where programmes can be watched on demand, restarted, recorded, etc. Koda’s distribution is based on reporting of specific usage per programme, combined with music data obtained from the processing of the primary TV channels.
In addition, there are quarterly or semi-annual distributions for several of the largest VOD services, including Netflix, Viaplay, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and SkyShowtime.
How much will I get paid?
The royalty payment we send to you for the use of your music is based on several factors, depending on where the music is used. For example, on TV and radio, we talk about minute values, whereas streaming is based on the number of streams. Concerts are paid out based on the number of attendees and, among other things, ticket prices if any.
