We will send you an email on November 6 if you are eligible for a royalty payment.
What is included in this distribution?
Distributions for Online Background 2024 have now been made. This covers the use of music on websites, apps, and similar digital platforms where it has not been possible to link the music directly to reported data.
The area is divided into two sections:
In addition, there is a royalty payment for music used in online commercials in 2024. This royalty payment is based on data received from an external provider that monitors commercials on major digital video platforms that use advertising.
The online area also includes final distributions for a number of SVOD services (subscription-based VOD services), such as TV2 Play, Viaplay, Nordisk Film+, and SkyShowtime. These final amounts primarily come from revenue generated by “mix-and-match” packages offered by TV distributors, where various VOD services can also be selected.
In the concert area, distribution is ready for music used at the Northside and Tinderbox festivals, both of which took place in June. The next royalty payment in December will include concerts at this year’s Roskilde Festival and Smukfest.
In the background music area, royalty payments for 2024 have been made within the Recorded Music and Streaming services for retail stores sections. In addition, there is a general final royalty payment across the background music area, covering both sections with and without reporting. You can read more about the different background sections here
Please note that the next distribution has been moved forward by one week. The new date is December 11, not December 4 as previously stated on our website.
Koda’s monthly distributions are made on an ongoing basis based on a preliminary estimated value. When the year is up and the annual financial report has been approved, we draw up a final annual settlement plan that follows up on any deviations from the estimated values.
If it turns out that, for example, more than 10% of the original annual amount remains undistributed within a given area, that amount will be distributed as a supplement to the previous distributions made regarding the given year. The final distribution is made to the works and rightsholders that received funds during the first round of distributions, following the same ratios and based on the same data as the original distribution.
How much will I get paid?
The royalty payment we send to you for the use of your music is based on several factors, depending on where the music is used. For example, on TV and radio, we talk about minute values, whereas streaming is based on the number of streams. Concerts are paid out based on the number of attendees and, among other things, ticket prices if any.
