We will send you an email on 17 September if you are eligible for a royalty payment.
What is included in this distribution?
Royalties for Spotify streams from November and December 2025 are now being distributed as a result of Koda’s new collaboration with BMAT. The distribution includes royalties for Spotify usage both in Denmark and internationally.
At the same time, Spotify is the first area to be distributed through Koda’s new distribution system, Matching Engine. As a result of these new processes and systems, some information displayed on My Koda may look different from what you as a member previously have seen. In addition, during this initial transition period, some distributions will be completed later than usual.
The next distribution of international streaming royalties is scheduled for December 2026. This distribution will include Spotify streams from January and February 2026, as well as, expectedly, more recent Spotify periods. Distributions for other services, including YouTube, will be made during the course of next year.
We will provide more specific information as soon as the distribution dates for the individual services have been confirmed.
Royalty payments for the major Danish festivals are now being launched, starting with payments for concerts performed at this year’s Jelling Music Festival.
Within the background music area, the annual distribution for the “Recorded Music” pool is also included. This pool covers background music usage where no direct music reporting is available, and distributions are therefore based on music reporting data from other representative usage areas.
This distribution also includes several online areas that are paid out annually. Among them is payment for 2025 music usage in broadcasts on DRTV, including content made available through subscriptions offered by TV distributors.
In addition, royalties for 2025 music usage in TV in Education and Film in Education are being distributed. These areas cover the use of music in television programmes and films that are used for educational purposes. Koda receives reporting data from CFU (Centre for Educational Resources), which provides a large catalogue of television programmes and films digitally to educational institutions. Furthermore, the TV in Education area is partly distributed based on reporting data reused from the television sector.
Finally, the annual distribution also includes 2025 royalties for music used in podcasts, specially composed music on websites, and Bauer Media’s web radio service RadioPlay.
How much will I get paid?
The royalty payment we send to you for the use of your music is based on several factors, depending on where the music is used. For example, on TV and radio, we talk about minute values, whereas streaming is based on the number of streams. Concerts are paid out based on the number of attendees and, among other things, ticket prices if any.
