Koda’s January 2024 distribution took place on Thursday 18 January. For a full overview of the areas and performance periods included, see the Koda distribution schedule
Monthly distributions for TV and Radio
The January distribution covers all TV and radio areas where distributions are made monthly. While it primarily concerns performances in October, in several areas you will find that performances from November have also already been reported, processed and are ready for distribution.
In all fields where distributions are made monthly, a given work will be included in the next distribution as soon as a match is established between a reported title and Koda’s work database or cue-sheet database. Of course, Koda must first have received the necessary music and programme information from the broadcasters, and Koda helps ensure that this happens by maintaining a close and ongoing dialogue with DR, TV2 and other broadcasters. If you should nevertheless find that an expected distribution for a specific performance has not made its way to you, you have the option, as always, to lodge a complaint via My Koda or contact [email protected]
Concerts
As regards concerts, the January distribution covers all concerts where music reporting has been processed and completed and where Koda has received all necessary information from the concert promoter (for example about ticket revenues per concert). On this occasion, this may include concerts held up to and including December 2023.
Abroad
Koda regularly pays out revenues received from sister societies for the use of Koda members’ music abroad. Koda’s distribution rates reflect the individual societies’ distribution frequency and speed in their various distribution areas. Prior to this January distribution, Koda has received major quarterly settlements from sister societies in Norway (TONO), Belgium (SABAM) and South Korea (KOMCA). Thus, much of this month’s distributions within this field comes from these countries. The distributions cover performances in various areas over the course of 2023.
Furthermore, Koda has received a semi-annual settlement from the Italian society SIAE, which is now being distributed to Koda members. It covers performances up to and including the first half of 2023, primarily within the fields TV, Concert and Online.
