What is included in this distribution?
Temporary resolution of conflict between YouSee and rights holders results in a final tv-distribution
In April 2024 when Koda started distributing tv royalties for music usage in 2024, the minute values were temporarily set significantly lower than in previous years. This was due to the conflict between YouSee and the rights holders, which concerned the royalty payment level for the use of rights in YouSee's tv packages.
A temporary agreement has now been reached between YouSee and rights holders, allowing Koda to distribute a larger final royalty payment bringing the total 2024 values in line with previous years.
The proportion of the total 2024 minute value paid out in this final royalty payment varies from channel to channel, but for some channels, it will be a significant portion. Therefore, the final royalty payment may be more extensive than what is usually the case in Koda's final royalty payments, which typically include a smaller remainder of the total pool amount per area.
New Work Database Platform
On January 20, 2025, Koda transitioned to a new work database platform, moving from ICE Copyright to ICE CUBE. As a result of this transition, our distributions are now based on the ICE CUBE work database.
This transition may mean that your royalty payment is smaller than the same period last year, as we have opted for a more manual processing of certain areas of distribution to ensure the quality of our royalty payments. However, this is only temporary, and we expect our distributions to stabilize over the coming months.
Royalty payment for all of 2024 on multiple tv channels
The temporary agreement between YouSee and rights holders also means that payoutsare now being made for a number of TV channels, where all of 2024 had been put on hold during the conflict. This includes channels such as TV3, TV3 Puls, Kanal4, Kanal5, and See. You can find the full list of included channels above.
How much will I get paid?
The royalty payment we send to you for the use of your music is based on several factors, depending on where the music is used. For example, on TV and radio, we talk about minute values, whereas streaming is based on the number of streams. Concerts are paid out based on the number of attendees and, among other things, ticket prices if any.
